The study reviewed the factors influencing food and beverage pairing principles in different social groups worldwide. Determinants of food and beverage pairings can be studied via the sensorial, physiological, socio-cultural, economic and ecological points of view. The study aims to facilitate a better understanding of how modern day food and beverage pairing principles are established through anthropological influences. The cultural patterns of food and beverage pairings will help beverage manufacturers and distributors today to better position their products in present-day markets among multi-cultural societies.
